700 GALERÍA

coleccionAR TE transforma

Collecting transcends the mere acquisition of objects; it is a deliberate choice of the truths that inhabit our private lives. At 700 GALERÍA, the relationship with a piece is understood as a profound encounter, where artworks serve as portals for internal reflection. Under this premise, aesthetics become the vehicle for personal development, where art acts as the visual language of one's own evolution. This movement stems from the conviction that art possesses the power to challenge the individual's essence through an absolute presence. Inspired by the legacy founded by Beatriz Canaán de Rincón in 1977, the Círculo de Coleccionistas (Collectors' Circle) invites us to shed the search for perfection, allowing the aesthetic experience to permeate the spectator. It is an exercise in conscious breathing before the canvas, discovering that every stroke constitutes a reflection of one's own history.coleccionAR TE transforma (collecting transforms you) is the thesis through which Luis Núñez Rincón articulates the contemporary era of 700 GALERÍA. With a trajectory that has defined the history of art in the region, his current mission transcends traditional curatorship to focus on the accompaniment of the self. He defends the practice of collecting as the axis of an inner change that dispenses with rigid scripts, reaffirming that the value of art lies in its power to transform those who allow themselves to be recognized through it.

DINA ATENCIO

DINA ATENCIO (Maracaibo, 1981) masters the subtle boundary between academic drawing and contemporary pictorial narrative. Throughout nearly two decades of sustained evolution alongside 700 GALERÍA, her work has transcended geographical borders to join prestigious private collections in Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Qatar.

This journey reached a peak of fulfillment in INTERMEZZO (2024), an avant-garde proposal where she elevated industrial supports to the category of museum-quality pieces. The series ultimately defined her language: the transmutation of the everyday into a universal dialogue. Her hands convert the simplicity of the material into a profound encounter between cultural heritage and intellectual sophistication.

FRANCISCO HUNG

FRANCISCO HUNG (Canton, 1937 – Maracaibo, 2001) emerges from a unique symbiosis: the millenary discipline of Asian calligraphy and the telluric force of the tropics. As the leading exponent of Abstract Expressionism in Venezuela, his work is a testament to the energy flowing through every gestural stroke. Awarded the National Painting Prize (1965) and the Felisa Lerner Prize at the São Paulo Biennial (1965), he stands as an institutional figure in Latin American art.

The bond between 700 GALERÍA and the Fundación Francisco Hung is renewed with RETORNO (2024), an evolutionary exhibition that has allowed for the recovery of intimate facets of his final production. The Master’s profile at the gallery is a living archive where the search for "perfect light" invites new readings of an immense legacy, today safeguarded under an alliance that preserves its indisputable historical relevance.

ÁNGEL D. LEIVA

ÁNGEL D. LEIVA (Maracaibo, 1983) is one of the most rigorous and intellectually relevant voices in the contemporary scene. His multidisciplinary practice is distinguished by a poetic sensibility that engages directly with political and social urgency. With a background rooted in Venezuela and Germany, he utilizes accumulation and ritual gesture to investigate the tensions between systemic chaos and imposed order.

His career is backed by the highest national honors, including the Eugenio Mendoza Prize (2021) and the Grand Prize of the V International Biennial of Contemporary Art ULA (2022). With a presence in collections such as the La Tertulia Museum and MACZUL, his work establishes itself as a fundamental piece to decipher the definitive intersection between radical aesthetics and social commitment.

ADOLFO MORALES

ADOLFO MORALES (Maracaibo, 1965) is a historical pillar in our gallery's trajectory. With a career spanning over four decades alongside 700 GALERÍA, he has forged international prestige that includes a significant artistic residency in Brazil. His mastery has been honored with the National Fire Arts Prize (2013), the absolute summit in his discipline.

Through clay and smoke, his work proposes an introspective journey where ceramics become a mirror of his inner world. Morales reinterprets the bruñido (burnishing) technique with a mystical sensibility that reached a new dimension in 2024 with Esmalte de sombras— an exhibition where ancestral ritual and the avant-garde merge to create testimonies of life made into enduring matter.

ANA MARÍA NAVA

ANA MARÍA NAVA (Maracaibo, 1962) (Maracaibo, 1962) articulates an investigation where the transparency of glass integrates with the rigor of space. An architect by training and a fire artist since 1995, her practice has been perfected at the Pilchuck Glass School, an elite institution in the United States. A four-time laureate at the Valencia Fire Arts Biennial (Venezuela), her work is a benchmark for glass sculpture in collections across the Americas and Europe.

Ana María Nava's trajectory is fundamental to the history of 700 GALERÍA, consolidated through two solo exhibitions: Estructuras Lineales | Líquidas | Fósiles (2012) y Abstracción Orgánica, Abstracción Geométrica (2013), as well as multiple participations in high-relevance stages such as the Feria Internacional de Arte de Bogotá (ARTBO) and Art Palm Beach. From her studio in Miami, she challenges the liquidity of the material through kiln-formed glass techniques, transforming glass into a language of light, color, and movement.

ÁLVARO PAZ

ÁLVARO PAZ (Maracaibo, 1986) dissects the complex juncture of the Venezuelan West, articulating a visual rhetoric that connects with other areas of the urban Caribbean. In his 2023 solo exhibition, Sí hay punto, he materialized a manifesto where the point abandons its function as a mere resource to claim a definitive formal sovereignty, consolidating a language of resistance.

The projection of his work has reached diplomatic milestones, notably the presentation of his piece Plato gallo to Prince Albert II during the 60th Anniversary of JCI Monaco. This gesture by Argenis Angulo projected our local essence toward international horizons, proving that his work is a bridge that reaffirms the relevance and exportability of Zulian talent to the world.

ERNESTO PÉREZ

ERNESTO PÉREZ (Maracaibo, 1985) explores urban life by capturing instants that archive deep narratives. His lens invites a rediscovery of the aesthetics of the everyday, revealing nuances that often escape the hurried gaze; through a perspective that oscillates between the documentary and the artistic, his compositions transform street observation into a visual chronicle of great emotional power.

At 700 GALERÍA, Ernesto integrates his vision with his role as an exhibition producer. His ability to articulate original content redefines the viewer's experience; this duality allows him not only to register reality but to construct narratives that link the work of our artists with the sensibility of today's audience.

HUGO RODRÍGUEZ

HUGO RODRÍGUEZ (Mérida, 1992) strengthens the contemporary branch of the gallery with a neo-expressionist vision. From his studio in Tovar, he has been validated in high-level competitions, obtaining second place in the 23rd Salón Jóvenes con FIA (2023). His proposal stands out for an audacious and challenging reinterpretation of Art History, turning the support into a conceptual battlefield.

Through complex wooden assemblages, Rodríguez challenges traditional bidimensionality to erect objects that demand a dynamic gaze from the observer. By amalgamating oil and wood, he fragments the solidity of classic canons in a plastic proposal that questions the relevance of our cultural icons and subverts the perception of traditional sculptural space.

FRANCISCO VERDE

FRANCISCO VERDE (Maracaibo, 1984) expands the rigor of his training at the prestigious The Florence Academy of Art (Italy) into an investigation with a vibrant contemporary sensibility. Placing the human being as the protagonist, his practice assumes art as a factual event that does not seek to explain, but to execute; a daily activity where abstraction oscillates between geometric precision and organic fluidity.

His proposal transcends the bidimensional plane, manifesting with the same impact in sculpture, installation, and public work. Following the celebration of Cuerpo y testimonio (2023) at the Centro de Bellas Artes Ateneo de Maracaibo, he is now projected toward a new solo exhibition for 2026. This appointment will be the stage where natural light and technical excellence reveal the new findings of a restless search.

OSWALDO VIGAS

OSWALDO VIGAS (Valencia, 1923 – Caracas, 2014) forged a cosmogony where the sacred and the human gravitate indissolubly. Establishing himself as an inescapable reference of modernity through milestones such as the National Visual Arts Prize (1952), the Venice Biennale (1954), and the Prince Rainier III Grand Prize of Monaco (1992), his work now resides in the collections of global institutions such as SFMoMA and MFA Houston.

Moving between drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, engraving, and tapestry, at 700 GALERÍA we have celebrated this journey with three fundamental exhibitions: Vigas en Maracaibo (1997), Sacro y Mundano (2005) y Vigas sobre papel (2010). These are encounters that reaffirm a universal relevance, merging the sophistication of the Parisian avant-garde with the ancestral pulse of the pre-Columbian in a unique language.

700 GALERÍA

Celebrating Art since 1977

Founded in 1977 by Beatriz Canaán De Rincón, 700 GALERÍA (formerly Setecientos, 700 Tienda de Arte, and 700 Arte y Antigüedades) was born inspired by the 700 section of the Dewey Decimal Classification System, dedicated to the Arts. It shines as a modern and contemporary emblem, cementing its prestige through hundreds of exhibitions featuring extraordinary figures such as Oswaldo Vigas, Francisco Hung and today's effervescent generation. The gallery radiates its influence through collaborations with institutions such as the Centro de Bellas Artes Ateneo de Maracaibo (CBA), the Centro de Arte de Maracaibo Lía Bermúdez (CAMLB), the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del Zulia (MACZUL) and the Centro Venezolano Americano del Zulia (CEVAZ). Its presence has been projected in renowned fairs: Feria Internacional de Arte y Antigüedades de Maracaibo (FIAAM), Feria Iberoamericana de Arte (FIA), Feria Internacional de Arte de Bogotá (ARTBO) and Art Palm Beach.700 GALERÍA embodies a family legacy deeply rooted in a passion for Art and a commitment to its community, regarded as a point of highest reference.

FOUNDERBEATRIZ CANAÁN DE RINCÓN, born into a Lebanese family of great artistic sensibility, expanded her knowledge through travel and studies across Europe. Following a notable tenure at the Biblioteca de la Casa Americana, she materialized a shared vision with her husband, Ender Rincón, and founded Setecientos in 1977.For over four decades, she fostered close relationships with exceptional artists, leading original concepts such as Ser escultor and organizing transcendental events like the Feria Internacional de Arte y Antigüedades de Maracaibo (FIAAM).Beatriz established the Fundación Fernando Rincón Canaán in 2006, promoting values of artistic training and sports practice for youth. Today, she is a celebrated figure in philanthropic circles.

DIRECTORLUIS NÚÑEZ RINCÓN, the third generation of the Rincón Canaán family, has been dedicated to 700 GALERÍA since a very young age. Trained at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Node Center for Curatorial Studies (Berlin), he seeks to propel new talents toward absolute recognition.
